Morning

I didn't really have a chance to get out and take any amazing morning shots for our topic last month, but I arrived at work on Wednesday to find this - and fortunately my phone has a camera on it.

Sam - CCNZ

Sorry guys, very late with some CCNZ photos. Only got 2 to put up though but hope you like them and get what I was trying to achieve. I wanted to get a few more shots but needed to climb on the roof of the David O so wasn't to keen on taking that risk. Climbing on the admin roof in the middle of conference was bad enough :-)

moooo - better late than never

I really wanted to get some great cow shots for our fauna theme.  My first attempt was foiled when the cows moved paddock.  My second attempt was foiled by a camera battery dying after one photo.  My third attempt was foiled by Preston crying in the car, and the realization that I really don't know how to use our camera!

None of the pictures I took turned out how I wanted, and I guess with Preston waiting in the car I was never going to have the time to wait for the money shot, or play with my settings to overcome the problems I was having.  So, in order to at least post something, I decided instead to play in photoshop with layers and effects, to try and jazz up some pretty dismal pics!

But, that's what the blog is for right, learning.  And I really have some learning to do!

Reflections- Sculpture Park Tauwhare

I visited Sculpture Park in Tauwhare for the first time today. A nice quiet place. I have really enjoyed our "Reflections" topic so I decided to add these sculptural reflection shots to our collection.

Hey everyone, sorry I was so late with my reflection shots but still wanted to get them done and here they are. Took these last night and today while in Auckland for work.

Mini Reflections

I should have moved closer to these critters to make them sharper, but I still like the interesting reflections of the legs and bodies, so I've posted them anyway. Taken at Whale Bay rock pools.

Hollis Brown - by Mark Hamilton

Well you all know that Sam and I are friends with local photographer Mark Hamilton.  He is working on a personal project at the moment, creating characters from Bob Dylan songs (his fave).  The second in the series was "The ballad of Hollis Brown" and was shot last night featuring Sam as Hollis.  I thought I would share the images with you guys seeing as Sam is in them!

To put it into context for those who don't know the song - the ballad of Hollis Brown is a song about a dirt poor South Dakota Farmer.  The song describes his desperate, hopeless situation and his hungry wife and even hungrier 5 children.  Finally it all gets too much for him and with his last dollar he buys 7 shot gun bullets...  I guess the image below is Hollis after using 6 of them...

The song is so sad - here is a link to it if you are interested in having a listen

Mark - maybe you can leave us a comment with more insider info into the shots : )
